please be respectful of what you flush down toilets

This house has a septic alarm
If you hear beeping alarm in the basement it is most likely the alarm for the septic system. There are several things that can cause this alarm to go off. The obvious reason would be something was flushed down a toilet that should not have been. Sometimes simple things that should normally not cause an issue like a certain soap or toilet paper can create a problem that you would usually not expect. Certain soaps can create a lot of suds which can trigger the alarm but as the suds go away the alarm would turn off on its own. Certain tissues or toilet paper that do not break down well can get wrapped up in septic equipment which can trigger the alarm.

DO NOT FLUSH:

Tampons, diapers, condoms, wrappers, food, oils, chewing gum, paper towels, paint, medical syringes, drugs and/or drug paraphernalia, dead animals or insects, hair, toys, garbage
